Who They Are
Your 10 to 12 year old is beginning to ask deeper questions about the world around them and thinking about the part they want to play in it.
In this transitional stage, your child craves independence and autonomy but still needs help weighing decisions, managing responsibilities, and building good habits for work and life.
Our program aims to provide a rich and engaging environment that includes a balance of learning disciplines that will equip your child with the skills they need to think critically and begin taking ownership of their education.

Morning Mindset

Morning Mindset sessions are Islamic discussions that aim to motivate, inspire, awaken, and provoke deeper thoughts about your child’s purpose, identity, goals, and the ways in which they can strive to achieve them while upholding our values.
Mathematical Thinking AND REASONING
“There should be no such thing as boring mathematics.” - Edsger W. Dijkstra, Scientist.
Mathematical Thinking supports your child as they pursue individualized math pathways, working to strengthen foundational skills and apply mathematics to real-world challenges. With a balance of independent work - either with Amplify Desmos Math curriculum or other curricula brought from home - and group activities, your child will get to deepen the math understanding and foster community.
Note: WHC offers support to any enrolled family needing help in choosing curriculum.
INQUIRY-BASED SCIENCE
“Science is Curiosity” – Sally Ride, Astronaut and First American Woman in Space
In our inquiry-based science courses, your child will dive deep into the scientific method to investigatate, analyze, and problem-solve.
A flipped class, course lectures and reading will be assigned to be completed at home so in class time can be dedicated to collaborative, hands-on learning and labs. Our course offering for the 2025-2026 cooperative year is:
Chemical Curiosities, an exciting, hands-on Chemistry class where your child will explore the building blocks of matter, uncover the secrets behind chemical reactions, and experiment with everyday substances in surprising ways. From colorful reactions to bubbling mixtures, each class will mix discovery with fun as you learn how chemistry connects to the world around you.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS
“Iqra” – Noble Qur’an
A social exploration of literature and writing, these courses are packed with discussions of literary themes, devices, ideas, identity, and impact. Your child will engage in group discussions, projects, and writing assignments for the purpose of developing critical thought, analysis, and principles of argumentation. Our course offering for the 2025-2026 cooperative year is:
Writer’s Workshop, an engaging and collaborative course designed to help your child become a stronger writer who is able to express their ideas clearly and creatively while simultaneously building the foundational skills needed to be a strong reader through thinking critically, asking deep questions and analyzing literary elements.
GLOBAL STUDIES

Combining discussions of History, Politics, Geography, Religion, Civics, Current Affairs, and more, these interdisciplinary courses will encourage your child to critically examine macro global processes and their impacts on communities. Our course offering for the 2025-2026 cooperative year is:
The World Through Our Eyes: History and Stories from an Islamic Perspective
This course explores global history and perspectives through novels and living books that align with Islamic values and offer windows into diverse cultures. Your child will engage in critical literary analysis, study historical contexts, and hone their writing and research skills. Through creative projects and reflective discussions, mentees will connect themes from the books to their faith and global understanding.
Passion Projects
Children thrive when they are allowed time and freedom to pursue the work that genuinely interests them. In this course, your child will get to puruse projects of their own design that align with their personal passions while learning foundational skills in growth mindset, goal setting, time and project management.
Elective Coursework
Elective offerings allow your child to select additional courses that will be offered throughout the year by a skilled instructor and will vary in topic and length, depending on the offering.

Note: All elective courses are included in the main tuition. Final course providers and schedule will be released to enrolled families before the start of the year.
